Japanese Beef Cubes Rice
If you have been to Japan, you will probably come across many of these food ticket fast food restaurant selling cheap and affordable rice bowl topped with generous serving of beef and you can add on an onsen egg to your rice by purchasing another separate ticket. Unfortunately such beef bowl is not as affordable in Singapore and it typically cost us at least $15-$30 (depending on the grade and quality of beef) to eat this rice bowl at a Japanese restaurant. This rice bowl is really simple to make and it doesn't take long to prepare too! This is definitely a prefect recipe for those who wants a quick fix of Japanese food at home!

Instructions
  1. Mix the soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, crushed garlic and black pepper in a ziplock bag.
  2. Cut the beef steak into cubes and put them in the ziplock bag with the seasonings and marinate them for at least 30 minutes in the fridge.
  3. In a heated cast iron pan, add 1 tbsp of oil and sear the beef cubes till it has a nice golden brown crust.
  4. Add the butter in and flip the beef cubes over.
  5. Continue searing the other side till it turns golden brown.
  6. Remove from pan and arrange the beef cubes on a bowl of steamed Japanese rice.
  7. Add the onsen egg on top of the beef cubes.
  8. Garnish with spring onions if desired.
